M3 Globular Cluster
M3 is one of most famous globular cluster targets for both professional and amateur astronomers. M3 consists of an estimated half a million stars making it one of the largest and brightest globular cluster of stars lies in the halo of our Milky Way galaxy. Located approximately 31,000 light-years away in the northern constellation Canes Venatici (the Hunting Dogs), the globular cluster contains mostly older stars and are densely packed together. There are around 150 globular clusters discovered in the halo of our galaxy.
